Research Technician - Obenauf Lab

The lab’s research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying tumor progression and employs a wide array of molecular biology, biochemistry, and in vivo approaches to identify new therapeutic entry points to control metastatic cancer.

The responsibilities for this position will be:

  • Routine molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, NGS library preparation)
  • Cellular assays (tissue culture, proliferation assays, FACS)
  • Biochemistry (SDS page, preparation of samples for Mass Spec)
  • Mouse work
  • General lab support (managing equipment, supplies, and reagents)
  • Training of new lab members

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor, Master, or PhD degree (or equivalent) with strong wet-lab experience
  • High motivation to work in an international, fast-paced environment
  • Prior experience with DNA/RNA assays is required
  • Tissue culture and FACS experience is an asset
  • Willingness to handle mice
  • High accuracy, reliability, precision under time pressure
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks 
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Friendly, collaborative, and pro-active mindset
  • Good English-language communication skills (German skills are not required)

Our offer:

We offer a dynamic lab, an international work environment (employees come from 40 different countries) and a chance to make an important contribution to basic biomedical research. The position also offers opportunities for further training in multidisciplinary techniques spanning molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and animal work. The annual gross salary will be € 31.024 or higher, - full-time (40 hrs/week), depending on qualification and experience.
